Sperm Donation

For many individuals and couples, use of donor sperm can be a wonderful way to help grow your family.  Whether you are considering donating your sperm to an anonymous bank, or interested in donating your sperm to a known recipient, there are many important legal considerations during this process.

When using donor sperm to conceive your child(ren) there are many issues that must be addressed, especially when working with a "known donor."  It is always best to work under the advisement of a fertility doctor or clinic who can assist you with the process, as well as under the guidance of a trusted attorney who can draft an agreement that addresses the interests and concerns for all parties involved.  

If you are donating your sperm, or using donated sperm without the assistance of an agency or qualified sperm bank, it is important that both parties understand all of the legal implications of sperm donation and have a carefully drafted contract that will protect all parties involved. It is also important for the contract to clearly define what future rights or obligations all parties will or will not have.
